Urgent Alert: Hoax Ransom Letters Targeting CompaniesÂ
Physical letters are being sent to companies, customized to match their specific industry. The return address on these letters has been listed as BIANLIAN Group, 24 Federal St, SUITE 100, Boston, MA 0211. At this time, we have high confidence that this is a hoax, with the sender impersonating a well-known cyber threat actor allegedly based in Russia.Â
The content of the letter closely resembles a ransom demand, similar to what you might receive in a ransomware attack. It includes a QR code and specific payment instructions to fulfill the alleged ransom demand.Â
If you or your team receive this letter—whether at your corporate office or home address—please follow the recommended security protocols listed below. No further action is required at this time. Â
Risk StatusÂ
At this moment, this is for Informational purposes only. There is no identified risk to the recipients of these letters. If any changes arise, the Cyber Security Solutions team will notify the leadership team accordingly.
